Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist/Director, Plant Tissue Culture and Plant Transformation in Lincoln, Nebraska

Epicrop’s mission is to increase plant yields and stress tolerance through epigenetic modifications in selected crops using Epicrop’s revolutionary epigenetic technology.

The Mission of the Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist in Plant Transformation is to lead a plant transformation team to transform monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous species to create new epigenetically improved plants.

The Successful Candidate will lead a team responsible for the creation and development of epigenetically improved plants for commercialization.  This research involves discovering and implementing new and/or more efficient methods of transforming elite germplasms in crop plants. Duties include: Performing transient and stable transformation assays in plants to evaluate different methods of implementing epigenetic modifications; and working with plant breeders to identify high performing elite germplasms as candidates for transformation. Considerable opportunities exist to add your creative contributions to these objectives.

Primary responsibilities include:
Utilize scientific knowledge and experimental skills to improve plant transformation of elite germplasms in selected crops.

Design, manage and supervise research of Research Associates to develop and improve methods for enhanced transformation technologies.

Keep current in the scientific literature and technologies in plant tissue culture and development. 

Collaborate with patent attorneys to protect inventions.

Provide intellectual leadership in your team and in collaborations with other teams to discover and implement new ideas and techniques.

Effectively collaborate within Epicrop and with external partners.

Provide a safe and supportive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in an area of plant tissue culture or related field.

Experience in experimental design and data analysis.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong productivity as measured by scientific publications and/or patent applications

Experience in leading collaborative projects
 
Preferred Qualifications:

Industry experience in plant transformation.

Knowledge and/or experience in plant transformation in multiple crops.

Three+  years of post-doctoral experience in plant transformation.
